The 7th Annual SERFA (South East Regional Folk Alliance) Conference was held May 14-18 in Montreat, North Carolina. Over 200 songwriters, performers and venue hosts were in attendance to network and celebrate folk music. Showcasing is also an important part of the conference, and Nancy sang her heart out into the wee hours of the morning throughout the weekend. Hadley Music from Nashville sponsored “The Lakeside Room” Showcase, and a songwriter round with Suzie Vinnick, Natasha Borzilova and Nancy Beaudette. “Weekends like this are so important. We get so busy writing and touring, and it’s important to come up for air once in a while. Musicians have to get creative these days, so comparing notes and sharing successes with your peers is energizing and hopeful,” says Nancy. SWRFA – South West Regional Folk Alliance Conference in Austin this fall is next on her list.
