I was thrilled to be asked to join the elite team of mural painters in Lancaster Ontario this past September.
Two large murals are now on display entitled “Life on the River,” and “Early Farming Settlers,” which is the culmination of South Glengarry Township’s Portraits of our Past project. Mural production was co-ordinated by longtime resident Noella Cotnam, who has three decades of experience participating in worldwide Walldog mural festivals. Noella is the owner of Sign It Signs & Design and Farmsigns.com in Williamstown, Ontario.
Cotnam has assembled a select team of international mural artists who converged on Lancaster paint over four days, the mural festival ending on Saturday, Sept. 28, with the official unveiling.
“These murals are wonderful for whoever is walking through the community and (driving) through the community,” South Glengarry Mayor Lachlan McDonald told about 50 people gathered during the closing stages of a four-day festival marking the painting of the murals.
Cotnam said she was grateful her collaborators. The two murals were designed by Elaine Wallis of Niagara Falls, Ont. (River Life) and Lorraine Lamb Lalonde, Ormstown, Que.’s (Early Farming).
Other Walldogs involved were Chelsea Hope, Bob Kaschak, Nancy Beaudette, Jeff Lang, Graham Greer, and Mary Jane Randlett. Providing logistical support was the South Glengarry Fire Department and Laroche Electric.
