I’m thrilled to have three of my pieces of art included in the “Destination: Nature” exhibition. Fivesparks is a dynamic artist community collaborative in Harvard, MA. and this juried art show features art inspired by the balance between society and nature in the Nashua River Watershed.
My first piece, “Forest Floor,” is a multi-media collage using eco dyed and hand painted paper, glazes, and charcoal drawing. It’s a close up view of things on the forest floor that would be easy to miss, like tiny mushrooms among leaves and branches.
“Mountain Laurel” is a small sculpture using found branches and hardware that I found on my walks through the woods, assembles as a vase, of sorts, to feature a sprig of mountain laurel, a bush that flourishes in New England.
My third piece, “Mushroom.” was created with a print on eco-dyed paper. I found the mushroom in my yard and with block printing ink, pressed the mushroom onto the paper.
The Harvard Conservation Trust is partnering again with Fivesparks to celebrate art and nature with a juried art show. This partnership will highlight the beauty of the diverse environments of the Nashua River Watershed: the river with all its tributaries, its wildlife, plant life and the lands and communities it nourishes.”
The show opens November 16, 2024, with a public reception on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
