Peace Date in the Winner’s Circle!

“Peace is not the product of a victory or a command.
It has no finishing line, no final deadline, no fixed definition of achievement.
Peace is a never ending process, the work of many decisions.” — Oscar Hammerstein II

Happy to announce that “Peace Date” has earned a 5th place title in the Songs for Peace Songwriting Competition. Co-writers Nur Felix and Nancy Beaudette were awarded a $500 prize for the honour. Thank you to the Judges for selecting our song among all the impressive entries.

About the Competition:

Songs For Peace© is quite simply an international songwriting contest. It begins online when people submit their original peace songs, and progresses as others vote on the songs, and finally, a panel of judges reviews the highest rated songs and selected wildcard choices.

When enough people focus on peace instead of war, on harmony instead of discord, love instead of hate, a sea of change for peace can take place that will sweep the world. Just as mob violence is created by a critical mass of angry people with angry thoughts, so peace can be created by a critical mass of people focusing on peaceful thoughts.

Music is a powerful medium that has been used to foster patriotism, prepare for battle, sell products, promote religion and to inspire love. Why not use the universal language of music to permeate our culture with aspirations for peace and brotherhood?

‘Last Train Out’ – TOP TEN Song!

February 28, 2017

Moonlit Pond Records is so pleased to tell you “Last Train Out”, a song penned by Nancy Beaudette and Jim & Lynna Woosley, is officially a TOP TEN SONG on the February 2017 Roots Music Report!

The inspiration for the song “Last Train Out” came from Lynna’s memories of her mother Elsie. She took the train many times during her youth, and later in life when she fell ill with Alzheimer’s, would ask if it was time for the train. She lost her battle in 2013 but her memory lives on in this song.

Jim and Lynna’s 2016 release,“Heart and Soul, Blood and Bone”, has garnered top placement on bluegrass, americana and folk radio all across the US and Canada.

It’s a fabulous album, available on itunes or directly from the artist’s website.

“I can’t even remember the last time I enjoyed an album this much. It’s beyond extraordinary”

Review by Jonathan Pappalardo

Jonathan PappalardoA virtue of the independent music scene is the joy in discovering artists for which the act of creating music is a deeply personal art. Nancy Beaudette, who hails from Cornwall, Ontario, but has made a name for herself in Central Massachusetts, is one such singer-songwriter. With South Branch Road, her eighth release, Beaudette’s homespun tales are the most fully realized of her nearly three-decade career.

The gorgeous title track, where the gentle strums of an acoustic guitar frame Beaudette’s elegant ode to her childhood, is a perfect example:

“I fell in love with tar and stone, And a county lined with maple and oak, In sixty-one with three kids in tow, Mom and dad bought a place there and made it home, I spent my summers on a steel blue bike, Weaving shoulder to shoulder like wind in a kite, Dreaming big and reaching high, Riding further and further out on my own”

The image of a girl and her bike surfaces again on “Ride On,” a wispy Continue reading
